1: What services are available at Dixie Day Spay?
Low-cost spay/neuter surgery, vaccines and testing. We also have flea/tick and heartworm preventative.
2: Do I need an appointment for my cat or dog to be spayed or neutered?
Yes, you will need to call the clinic for an appointment date and time.
3: Will my animal stay overnight?
No, in most all cases our patients go home the same day they have surgery. We do not have staff at the clinic at night to monitor your pet. We prefer they are home where they are more comfortable and can be supervised.
4: May I come in during the week for vaccinations only?
No, if your pet needs vaccinations he/she is welcome at our vaccine clinics held one Saturday per month from 9am to 1pm. You do not need an appointment for these clinics.
5: Who makes up the Dixie Day Spay staff?
One veterinarian, two technicians and one office personnel. We have volunteers who help us on a daily basis.
6: What are the clinic hours?
Monday through Thursday, 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM
7: Do you charge extra for large dogs?
We charge $10 extra if a dog is over 100 pounds.
8: Do you perform surgery on a dog that is in heat?
Spaying a dog while she is in heat is not ideal. We would prefer you bring her before her heat cycle starts or after she is completely out of heat.
9: What age do you spay/neuter cats and dogs?
Dogs must be 10 weeks old. Cats must be 10 weeks old and weigh at least 2 pounds.
10: How many surgeries have you performed?
Over 5000 surgeries since our opening date of October 26th, 2009. We service between 18 and 30 animals daily.
11: Do the fees charged cover the cost of the surgery?
No. We depend on donations and fundraising to help make ends meet.
12: Who are your clients?
We have pet owners come from East and Middle Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama. We currently serve five Rescue groups and are adding others. Dixie Day Spay is here for any pet owner who is struggling to pay full service veterinary fees.
13: How did you come to be and why do you exist?
Dixie Day Spay began as a dream for a small group of friends who believe our animals deserve better. It is not acceptable for them to die by the thousands at Animal Control due to the limited resources of their owners. It is the Dixie Day Spay team’s goal to make spay/neuter surgery affordable for everyone.
